Giant Cupcake Cake

I bought one of these pans after Valentines Day, it was marked 50% off and I could not resist. I then promptly forgot about it until yesterday, don't you hate when you do that?  My daughter Olivia decided that she wanted to make this giant cupcake cake all by herself, so I turned the kitchen over to her and she did an amazing job.

Ingredients
1 boxed cake mix, any flavor
1 container chocolate frosting
Buttercream Frosting
Gel food coloring
Sprinkles
Cool Cupcake Pan

Make cake according to directions, and pour into Pam sprayed cake pan. Bake at 350 for 40 minutes or until skewer comes out clean. Let cool completely before taking them out of the pan.
 Follow picture tutorial below.
Leave in pan until cool
They both have domed tops and this needs
to be taken care of
With a serrated bread knife level
the top of the cake
Now it's nice and flat
Now level the bottom of the cupcake "top"
Place chocolate icing in a piping bag and pipe
chocolate up the sides of the cake to look
like a cupcake wrapper
Use remaining chocolate frosting to place in center of cake.
Then place the top part of the cake onto the base and frost.
I regret that I didn't photograph Olivia frosting
the top half of the cake. Sorry :(
Olivia with her masterpiece.
She used buttercream frosting and this tip
to frost the top. She then sprinkled
pink crystals all over the cake
Last night at midnight Olivia and her friend
Brad cut into the cake
Doesn't it look great?
Enjoy!
